About the Artist

Born and raised in Brisbane, Samara Lee, began her creative journey at a young age. Her mother, acclaimed Brisbane Architect Justine Ebzery, encouraged creativity from a young age, taking Samara and her siblings on trips to local gallery's and encouraging artistic creation. This was further encouraged by her Secondary School art teachers who allowed her to experiment with mixed medias, from printmaking to photography. Samara first completed Bachelors Degrees in Nursing and Midwifery before turning back to creative pursuits with a year of Fine Arts study at Queensland University of Technology before commencing her Masters in Secondary Education (Visual Arts). She is passionate about the role of art in advocacy for social issues and often explores themes of women's health and queerness in her work.
